Dracula: A comedy of Terrors

Calarts Coffeehouse Spring 2025

Director

In Spring 2025, I directed Dracula: A Comedy of Terrors at the CalArts Coffeehouse Theater. This 90-minute, fast-paced adaptation reimagined Bram Stoker’s classic story through a lens of sharp comedy, rapid character changes, and physical humor. As director, I oversaw all aspects of the production, including casting, staging, character development, and collaborating closely with the scenic, costume, lighting, sound, and puppet design teams to bring a cohesive and chaotic vision to life.

This production challenged me to balance tight comedic timing with clear storytelling while leading a large team of designers and performers and to answer the age-old theatrical question: how many quick changes is too many? (Answer: still counting.)

Marketing

At CalArts, poster culture is a major part of how shows gain visibility so I began the promotional rollout with eye-catching, on-brand posters across campus before launching the official Instagram. I managed and created content for the account, establishing a consistent visual identity and tone that matched the energy of the production. Leading up to opening night, I produced cast and crew spotlights, countdown graphics, memes, and behind-the-scenes content to build momentum and engage the student community. The campaign contributed to multiple sold-out performances and helped make Dracula one of the most talked-about shows of the semester.
